The Homeless Cat Crisis of Los Angeles
Los Angeles, California is facing a heartbreaking cat overpopulation crisis with an estimated 3 million feral cats who are struggling to survive. Overcrowded animal shelters are refusing to accept any more cats, leaving them abandoned, scared, and with nowhere to go. Hundreds of TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) volunteers work tirelessly in dangerous conditions, dedicating hours to spaying and neutering cats. This initiative focuses on fixing a mix of feral and friendly street cats, the majority being feral. Sadly, the overwhelming number of stray cats have led rescuers to TNR even friendly cats due to limited resources and capacity. The cat overpopulation crisis has reached heartbreaking levels this year. Without spay/neuter resources, the population will continue to grow exponentially and leave these cats suffering in the streets of L.A..
To address this, the Angels for Angels Foundation is partnering with Animals in Need Rescue to raise funding for a spay/neuter program starting in January 2025. There will be recurring monthly clinics in Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, and El Monte. Each clinic is able to spay/neuter 35 cats, and by the end of 2025 we can prevent hundreds, if not thousands of unwanted litters.
We are committed to ending the cat overpopulation crisis in Los Angeles through spay and neuter programs - proven, long term solutions to pet overpopulation. Join us in transforming Los Angeles and saving thousands of lives.
